Mario Blanco is a Contact Improvisation dancer and facilitator. A passion for mindful physical activities has always been there, albeit a formal Law education is there too. The dance with Contact Improvisation started 8 years ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina, home of a very vibrant community. A deep devotion arise through the discovery of possibilities, mainly that of being in mindful flow without resourcing to external teachings and prescriptions (like the previously known asanas of yoga routine). Instead, giving space to the inherent wisdom in the body, in the flesh, and in the interdependence.
Throughout this dance, events in countries like Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Turkey, Egypt, and others have been created. For the last two years, Mario has been living in Norway.
Mario is a professional freediver and a Freediving Instructor. Here too, the dance came to be, as an underwater form of Contact Improvisation they called OceanDance. The main interest now still relates to authenticity and the quality of being present with what is now… It easily takes the form/shape of Contact Improvisation, but also shows up as Authentic Movement, Somatic practices, Silence retreats, Contemplative Dance, or just sitting.
